Upon painting this piece, I couldn’t feel the burning in my bones. But when the vision came, like a magick spell, the act of painting took me to the depths of my ache. In an enveloping betrayal of self that left me in a deep surrender. This was a dark night of the soul. The light within me became eclipsed by my shadow. I found comfort there. My feet imbued with charcoal and ember, the parasite uncoils itself from me, yearning for escape to a union of forces beyond my awareness as the smoke filled the sky and the trees did weep.
